Crime Prevention Fund

John Dwyer: a Police and Crime Commissioner for the whole of Cheshire, Halton and Warrington

Backing projects for local communities - John's "Crime Prevention Fund"

Commenting, John said:

"When I was elected in 2012 I promised to serve the whole of Cheshire, Halton and Warrington, as Police and Crime Commissioner and work for everyone in our county, regardless of whether or not they voted for me. I've tried hard to live up to this commitment, demonstrating it with actions and financial support for crime prevention activities and projects in communities across the Force area. Nearly £1million worth of partnership grants have been made available for community safety schemes. This support has included targeted activities for young people, initiatives to divert drug users, new anti-social behaviour tools and powers and programmes of activity to reduce reoffending and alchohol-related violence."

Describing his involvement in a pilot scheme in Runcorn, John said:

"I was delighted to facilitate investment that saw the community decide to focus support on 21 projects, including activities for all ages together with sport and health related schemes. Crime and incident levels during the early summer of 2015 were lower than the previous two years with people gaining employment through a Jobs Club, older residents having access to a thriving lunch club and football, dance and wrestling clubs proving popular with young people. I’m proud to be able to support projects across Cheshire in a practical way. My Crime Prevention Fund also saw £100,000 put aside to support local communities and organisations who wanted to make a difference in Cheshire."

Details of the projects John has supported with his Crime Prevention Fund are given below - clear evidence that John has backed local communities up and down Cheshire. If re-elected on Thursday 5th May, John will continue this approach of investing for better and safer communities.
