Conservative Candidate for the Police and Crime Commissioner elections in November, John Dwyer, joined a social action campaign to clear litter around Hunts Lock in Northwich on Friday 20th July. John rolled up his sleeves with a dozen young volunteers and spent the afternoon filling sacks up with litter.
Commenting after the campaigning session, John said:
‘I take my hat off to these young people who took it on themselves to tidy up this park for the benefit of the local community. It is quite clear on speaking to local residents that they are concerned about the loutish behaviour which has resulted in this amount of rubbish being dumped in what is a very nice park.
It will be my policy once elected as the Police and Crime Commissioner for Cheshire to encourage the courts to mete out community punishments for these louts who should be made to pick up litter whilst wearing high visibility jackets with ‘Community Payback’ emblazoned on their backs. It is time for the majority to assert its will on the mindless minority. The minority will be made to feel uncomfortable by the rest of us.’
