From 3 August, residents across the county will receive a copy of the Police & Crime Commissioner’s Annual Report.
John Dwyer said: “I’ve been working hard to represent the views of the people of Cheshire when it comes to policing, and delivering against the objectives I set in my Police & Crime Plan. The report, which I am required to produce, showcases what has been achieved over the course of the last year.
“I am very proud of the fact that crime is at its lowest rates since the 1990s, detections have increased and satisfaction in policing remains stable.
“The report details how I’ve placed victims at the heart of the criminal justice system, and this has been re-iterated by the Chief Constable’s ‘We’re Here’ Commitments. It highlights the wide range of work being undertaken to ensure victims are supported in coping and recovering from their ordeal and the work being undertaken to prevent future victims.
“I am also delighted to have set a budget for investment in 2015/16, which bucks the trend in areas across the country. This budget will ensure 53 more police officers are recruited, 130 extra officers are on the frontline and the investment in specialist resources, such as, a new public protection directorate. The directorate will give an even stronger focus and greater resilience, with specially trained investigators tackling some of the worst crimes imaginable, including child sexual exploitation. All this is being achieved despite making £8million budgeted savings.
“My vision is to make Cheshire an even safer place to live and work. In order to achieve this, I will work closely with the Constabulary and in partnership with a range of other organisations to tackle issues at a local, regional and national level.”
